Pooler Area GuideWelcome to Pooler, Georgia! Pooler is located in Chatham County and has a population of approximately 11,000 residents. Pooler is a part of the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area and is rich in history and culture. Pooler HistoryPooler began as a railway stop during the Civil War (Pooler’s Station) and was the last stop before Savannah on the Central of Georgia Railroad. In 1864 Pooler was a meeting place for Union officers led by William Tecumseh Sherman who were responsible for negotiating the surrender of the port city. Today Pooler is a center for commercial and business development and has been successful in attracting several large corporations into the area. Residents here enjoy low crime rates, excellent schools, good property values and a small-town atmosphere that have led to a rapid increase in the population. Pooler is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Savannah area. Pooler Parks and RecreationPooler is home to many excellent parks and recreational areas.
