Pooler Area Guide

Welcome to Pooler, Georgia! Pooler is located in Chatham County and has a population of approximately 11,000 residents. Pooler is a part of the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area and is rich in history and culture.

Pooler History

Pooler began as a railway stop during the Civil War (Pooler’s Station) and was the last stop before Savannah on the Central of Georgia Railroad. In 1864 Pooler was a meeting place for Union officers led by William Tecumseh Sherman who were responsible for negotiating the surrender of the port city. Today Pooler is a center for commercial and business development and has been successful in attracting several large corporations into the area. Residents here enjoy low crime rates, excellent schools, good property values and a small-town atmosphere that have led to a rapid increase in the population. Pooler is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Savannah area.

Pooler Parks and Recreation

Pooler is home to many excellent parks and recreational areas. Come visit with your family or friends and enjoy the scenic views that Pooler has to offer.

Pooler Park
With over 33 acres of land, Pooler Park is home to the Pooler Recreation Department and is conveniently located between Highway 80 and Pine Barren Road. The park includes 5 lighted baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, two playgrounds, batting cages, picnic areas, and the Pooler Gym. There is also a multi-purpose room used for tumbling and wrestling classes, a concession stand, and a conference area.

Gleason Park
Gleason Park is a small community park located in the Gleason Heights neighborhood. The park has a tree-covered passive park, a gazebo, and sitting areas.

Joe Baker Park
Joe Baker Park consists of green space, Pooler’s fountain, and several picnic tables; several events are held here throughout the year including the annual lighting of the Christmas tree.
